House in Max!

Nothing like relearning a modeling tool!  For the next few months I'll be working in Max and thinking about various workflows. Here's the WIP I have for a house I'm modeling.

The Final, and moving on.

Here's how it turned out!

While it's nice, it's just a good start. Lets think about improving the piece by taking a critical eye to it:

Very liener. Not enough play with the depth moving into the street.
Not enough variety of the windows.
More attention to details needed.
More signs of city life- pipes, planter boxes, vehicles, etc.
More personality to the buildings
A little more grimier.
Castle needs to be stronger. More gothic.
Buildings are too bulky and square. Need to be thinner.

More to come!

Retrotech environment progress

Hello!  More progress on the current piece I'm working on.  Slowly building it up using repeating pieces. After getting the basic items in, I'm going to target areas where I stat putting in more high tech pieces of machinery and have a culture miss-mash. Currently rendered in maya.

Next Project

The first draft of the look and feel for the next 3d environment project I'd like to make. Nice tall vertical elements and a mash up of old world/new world. Photoshop and found photos of Convington houses in England.

Marmoset Toolbag v2

I've been really enjoying the new shader functionality of the Marmoset Toolbag v.2.  It's huge step up from the original.

Here's a simple crate I made in maya and textures in photoshop.

Next we have in the render engine with a couple of warm lights and one cool light.
